IFA Scholarship Winner – Nerissa Allen
IFA is pleased to announce that Nerissa Allen, LAME (Student) with LIAT (1974) Ltd has been chosen as the 2016 Scholarship winner. She will be sponsored by IFA to attend the ‘Airworthiness Fundamentals’ course taking place at Cranfield University, UK in early September.
Ms Allen accepted the award. “I am very honoured and would like to thank the IFA for this scholarship. I am also honoured to be the second individual from the small
island of Antigua to receive this amazing opportunity.
This scholarship will expand my knowledge and give me an even greater understanding of Airworthiness as it plays a major role in the aviation industry.
I am looking forward to gaining experience in Airworthiness Fundamentals which I will be able to apply more readily in daily maintenance.”
Capt. Malcolm Chan-a-Sue, Chief Executive Officer of the Art Williams & Harry Wendt Aeronautical Engineering School and Executive Director of the Aircraft Owners’ Association of Guyana who nominated Ms Allen commented:
“We are most delighted and doubly honoured that the IFA has accepted our nomination for their 2016 Scholarship Award. Like Mr. Dorian Nicholas, our previous 2012 Scholarship winner, Nerissa is a very industrious person and keen to expand her knowledge by attending the Airworthiness Fundamentals Course at Cranfield University. Nerissa “hit the ground running” from her first day at School here in Guyana. She attained her Guyana Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s Licence without Type Rating, Licence No. 281 while still a student of Art Williams & Harry Wendt Aeronautical Engineering School.
Nerissa Allen is presently attached as an Intern to LIAT (1974) Ltd., Antigua & Barbuda. With that attitude and aptitude she can go a very long way in the World’s aviation industry.”
